ST. LOUIS, Mo. – San Diego running back Matt Colombo, Dayton safety Vincent Firenze, and Butler defensive lineman Luke Green are the Pioneer Football League’s Week 2 Players of the Week, announced Sunday.
Colombo pieced together the league’s first 200-yard rushing performance – and only the second in the FCS – and scored the game-winning touchdown in San Diego’s win against nationally-ranked Southern Utah. Firenze had a key interception and paced a Flyers defensive group that held Thomas More scoreless in a Dayton victory. Green blocked two PAT kicks to help Butler fend off a late Truman State run and post a 37-27 victory.
Offensive
Matt Colombo, San Diego (Graduate, Running Back, El Segundo, California)
Colombo’s three-yard touchdown run in overtime capped his impressive day as he led San Diego to a 30-27 victory against nationally-ranked Southern Utah on Saturday. He posted the PFL’s first 200-yard rushing performance of 2025, amassing 202 net yards on 34 carries, including the game winner. Colombo was responsible for 10 of San Diego’s 18 first downs. He also had a five-yard touchdown reception in the victory.
Others Nominated
- Butler quarterback Andrew Reagan was responsible for four touchdowns in a 37-27 victory against Truman State. He completed 14-of-17 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns and ran 13 times for 34 net yards and two touchdowns.
- Dayton running back Luke Hansen notched his 1,000th career rushing yard in a 15-carry, 131 net yard rushing performance that included two touchdown runs in a 38-0 victory against Thomas More.
- Marist quarterback Sonny Mannino finished with 311 total offensive yards in Marist’s loss to Bucknell. He completed 22-of-42 passes for 229 yards and a touchdown and was the Red Foxes’ leading rusher with 89 net yards on 20 carries.
- Presbyterian wide receiver Nathan Levicki caught both the touchdown and two-point conversion passes in overtime to secure a 39-38 victory at Furman. He finished the game with six receptions for 60 yards and two touchdowns, scoring 14 points.
- St. Thomas quarterback Andy Peters completed 21-of-29 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns as St. Thomas pushed nationally-ranked Idaho before falling. He also rushed for 79 net yards on 11 carries, finishing the day with 343 total offensive yards.
- Stetson quarterback Kael Alexander picked up his first win as a starter, completing 11-of-15 passes for 336 yards and three touchdowns in a 59-13 victory against Warner.
Defensive
Vincent Firenze, Dayton (Sophomore (RS), Safety, Syracuse, New York)
Firenze led a Dayton unit that tossed a shutout in a 38-0 victory against Division II Thomas More on Saturday. He recorded six tackles (two solo) and also had an interception and a pass breakup. Firenze’s interception came on the first play of a Thomas More drive and led to Dayton’s first touchdown. His pass breakup came on a third-down play, forcing a punt in the third quarter. Dayton held Thomas More to 200 offensive yards, 11 first downs, and a 2-of-11 third-down conversion rate.

- Butler defensive back Will Mason had eight tackles (four solo) and recovered a blocked PAT and returned it 95 yards for a defensive two-point conversion in Butler’s 37-27 victory against Truman State.
- Presbyterian defensive back Alex Ward finished with five tackles (two solo), with two for loss, including a sack, and a pass breakup as Presbyterian held Furman to three points over the final 24 minutes of regulation in a 39-38 overtime win at Furman.
- San Diego linebacker Nate Fischer posted 12 tackles (five solo), including 1.5 for loss and a sack, and a pass breakup in San Diego’s 30-27 overtime victory against nationally-ranked Southern Utah.
- Stetson defensive back Simeon White II intercepted two passes in a 59-13 victory against Warner.
- Valparaiso linebacker Anthony Geltrinelli had 14 tackles (six solo), including one for loss, in a loss to Adrian.

Luke Green, Butler (Sophomore (RS), Defensive Lineman, Pelham, New York)
Green blocked two PATs in Butler’s 37-27 victory against Truman State on Saturday. His second blocked kick came with Truman State threatening to tie the game 28-28. Instead, the blocked kick was recovered by defensive back Will Mason, who returned it 95 yards for a defensive two-point conversion, giving Butler a 30-27 lead.
