ST. LOUIS, Mo. – University of St. Thomas quarterback Amari Powell joined Morehead State linebacker Dillon Schobourgh and kicker Thomas Schwartz V as the Pioneer Football League’s Week 8 Players of the Week, announced Sunday.
Powell was responsible for four touchdowns and 307 offensive yards as St. Thomas scored a home victory against Valparaiso. Schobourgh scored three unassisted sacks in an 11-tackle outing, while Schwartz made his first two field goals of 2025, including the game-winner, as Morehead State outlasted Marist at home.
Following Week 8’s action, Drake and nationally-ranked Presbyterian remain the league’s lone unbeatens in conference play at 3-0. Butler and Dayton are tied for third place at 3-1, with Stetson and St. Thomas in fifth at 2-2. Week 9’s schedule sees Presbyterian put its unbeaten mark on the line in a road trip to Dayton. Drake is also on the road with its unblemished league mark at Marist.
Offensive
Amari Powell, St. Thomas (Senior, Quarterback, Valencia, California)
Powell was responsible for four touchdowns and 307 total offensive yards in St. Thomas’ 55-17 PFL victory against Valparaiso. In 70 minutes of action, he completed 13-of-20 passes for 265 yards and three touchdowns while scoring a touchdown on the ground as part of a three-carry, 42-yard effort that included no stops for a loss or sacks. Powell had a four-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. He then ran for a 20-yard score and passed for a 56-yard touchdown in the second quarter as the Tommies built a 31-10 lead. Powell’s final play of the day came after a Valparaiso turnover, and he converted the miscue into a touchdown with a 22-yard pass. He saw 11 of his 13 completions go for a first down or touchdown.

- Butler quarterback Andrew Reagan amassed 334 total offensive yards and two touchdowns, completing 18-of-23 passes for 256 yards and two scores while rushing 20 times for 78 yards in a 23-17 victory at Dayton.
- Drake wide receiver Jackson Voth caught eight passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns in a 45-0 victory against Valparaiso.
- Marist quarterback Sonny Mannino finished with 303 total offensive yards with a 23-of-35 passing performance for 254 yards and a touchdown and running 17 times for 49 yards and a touchdown in a loss at Morehead State.
- Presbyterian running back Justin Montgomery needed just eight carries for 54 yards to score three touchdowns in a 42-7 victory against Stetson.
Defensive
Dillon Schobourgh, Morehead State (Senior, Linebacker, Toronto, Canada)
Schobourgh led the Eagles with 11 tackles, including three sacks, as the Eagles held off Marist for a 23-21 PFL victory. His three sacks tied the PFL season best and is fourth most in the FCS this season. Late in the first half, he scored his second sack on a Marist 4th-and-3 play to force a turnover on downs, with the resulting Morehead State possession resulting in a field goal. Along with the three sacks, he also had a tackle for no gain, and four tackles for gains of three yards or less. Marist averaged 5.2 yards per play and only 3.3 yards per rush against the Eagles.

- Butler linebacker Tyson Garrett finished with 3.0 tackles for loss as part of a seven-tackle day in a 23-17 victory against Dayton.
- Drake linebacker J.R. Flood recorded five tackles, including 2.5 for loss and a sack, in a 45-0 victory against Davidson.
- Presbyterian linebacker Boyce Bankhead scored 11 tackles, including a sack, in a 42-7 victory against Stetson.
- St. Thomas linebacker Ryan Sever recorded nine tackles, including one for loss, and a pass breakup in a 55-17 victory against Valparaiso.
Special Teams
Thomas Schwartz V, Morehead State (Junior (RS), Kicker, Treynor, Iowa)
Attempting field goals for the first time this season, Schwartz connected on a pair, including the game-winner with three seconds remaining, as Morehead State toppled Marist 23-21 in PFL action. Schwartz has mainly handled kickoff duties only for the Eagles until Week 8, but started his day with a 40-yard field goal to give Morehead State a 13-0 halftime lead. He followed that with his game-winning 41-yarder. In his regular kickoff duties, he had three touchbacks on six kickoffs and a net of 40.2 yards per kick.

- Presbyterian punter Ethan Cartmel averaged 45.6 yards on his three punts, including a 50-yard long and two downed inside the 20-yard line, in a 42-7 victory against Stetson.
- St. Thomas kicker Ben Holland was responsible for 12 points, connecting on field goals of 43 and 38 yards and all six PATs, in a 55-17 victory against Valparaiso.
- Valparaiso kick returner Chris Gundy returned a kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown in Valparaiso’s loss at St. Thomas.
