ST. LOUIS, Mo. – University of Dayton’s quarterback Bryce Schondelmyer and defensive end Brandon Martin were joined by Drake University kicker Harry Balke as the Pioneer Football League’s Week 6 Players of the Week, announced Sunday.

Schondelmyer led Dayton to a 41-point first half with three touchdown throws while Martin led a Flyers defense that did not allow a point for three quarters in a victory at Valparaiso. Baake hit a game-winning 55-yard field goal in his hometown return as Drake escaped with a win at San Diego.

In Week 7 action, Dayton improved to 3-0, while Drake and nationally ranked Presbyterian improved to 2-0. Stetson won its second straight game and is 2-1 while St. Thomas picked up its first PFL win to improve to 1-2.

Offensive

Bryce Schondelmyer, Dayton (Sophomore (RS), Quarterback, Brookville, Ohio)
Schondelmyer needed just one half to make his mark, throwing for three first-half touchdowns in Dayton’s 41-10 win at Valparaiso. In the first half, he completed 14-of-20 passes for 199 yards and three touchdowns to three different receivers. Schondelmyer opened the scoring with an eight-yard touchdown completion to Dominic Vrbancic, added a second-quarter four-yard TD pass to Donovan Weatherly, and capped the first half with a 20-yard scoring pass to Michael Mussari. He led the Flyers' 41-point first-half outburst that proved enough to hold off the Beacons. Schondelmyer was on the field for the Flyers' first drive of the second half, going 1-for-2 passing for three yards, and finished the day completing 15-of-22 passes for 202 yards.
