Drake def. Morehead State, 17-10
DES MOINES, Iowa – Nick Herman rushed for 253 yards, including a game-securing 77-yard dash as Drake downed Morehead State, 17-10, at Drake Stadium. Morehead State scored the game’s first touchdown courtesy Isaac Stopke’s 42-yard run with five minutes remaining in the first quarter. Drake broke through with 1:55 left in the second quarter as Harry Balke connected on a 25-yard field goal for a 7-3 Morehead State halftime lead. Neither team scored again until 6:53 left in the game when Drake’s Logan Inagawa dashed into the end zone from eight yards out to put Drake ahead 10-7. After Morehead State missed a field goal, Herman supplied a 77-yard insurance touchdown on Drake’s next play from scrimmage. Morehead State would get a field goal with 22 seconds left, but could not recover the ensuing onside kick, allowing Drake to kneel out the clock. Stopke carried the ball 23 times for 130 yards and a touchdown to lead the MSU offense.

CLINTON, S.C. – Justin Montgomery’s five-yard touchdown run with 46 seconds left helped Presbyterian survive Marist’s furious second-half push to secure a 29-25 victory at Bailey Memorial Stadium. The Blue Hose led 13-0 at halftime, but Marist outscored them 17-3 in the third quarter to take a 17-6 advantage into the fourth quarter. Presbyterian retook the lead on an 11-play, 69-yard drive capped by Collin Hurst’s 23-yard touchdown pass to Nathan Levicki with 10:03 left. Marist responded on its next possession, marching 82 yards in 12 plays with Carter James scoring from two yards out for a 25-22 lead with 2:11 remaining. Presbyterian then went 65 yards in eight plays, with Montgomery’s go-ahead touchdown finishing the effort and providing a 29-25 lead that would hold up. Montgomery finished with 14 carries for 40 yards and a touchdown, while Hurst completed 18-of-32 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns. Marist’s Will O’Dell completed 12-of-15 passes for 180 yards, ran for 26 yards, and scored as a passer and a runner.
San Diego def. Stetson, 42-8
DeLAND, Fla. – Matt Colombo ran for 129 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries, powering San Diego past Stetson, 42-8, at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium. Colombo scored three touchdowns in the first half on runs of 14, 1, and 3 yards, with Adam Criter dashing for a 53-yard score as San Diego built a 28-0 halftime lead. Stetson broke through on its first possession of the second half as Christ Stephenson ran for a one-yard touchdown and then for a two-point conversion. But San Diego scored twice in the fourth quarter, including a 37-yard Colombo touchdown run, to secure the win. Stephenson completed 12-of-24 passes for 69 yards and ran for 97 yards on 24 carries.
Butler def. Valparaiso, 27-20
INDIANAPOLIS – Gabe Passini ran for a touchdown and passed for another while Valparaiso’s fourth-quarter push came up short as Butler secured the Hoosier Helmet with a 27-20 victory at Brown Field. Passini’s four-yard rushing touchdown gave Butler a 14-7 lead with 9:18 left in the first half, and his 49-yard touchdown pass to Jasey Ershod gave the Bulldogs a 24-7 lead they would take into halftime. After a scoreless third quarter, Valparaiso charged back as Rowan Keefe tossed a pair of touchdowns – one to Devin Yeats and another to Colin Hayes – to make it a 27-20 scoreline. But Butler recovered a short kickoff and was able to run out the clock to secure the win. Passini completed 10-of-17 passes for 140 yards and ran for 106 yards on 19 carries. Keefe completed 18-of-28 passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns while running for 78 yards on 10 carries.
Dayton def. Davidson, 42-14
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Josh Williams intercepted two passes in the first quarter, returning one for a touchdown to set the tone in Dayton’s 42-14 victory against Davidson at Davidson College Stadium. Williams’ two picks came on back-to-back Davidson possessions. He returned the first 32 yards for the game’s first touchdown and his second 15 yards to set up Dayton at the Davidson 30-yard line, with the Flyers scoring on the ensuing drive to take a 14-0 lead. Neither team scored in the second quarter, but Dayton opened the second half with three scoring drives to break the game open, 35-0, with 2:18 remaining. Davidson would score twice in the fourth quarter as Coulter Cleland threw touchdown passes to Ivan Hoyt and Langston Green, but could not narrow the deficit further. Liam Poronsky completed 16-of-22 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns while Luke Hansen ran for two touchdowns on a 15-carry, 87-yard day. Cleland completed 19-of-31 passes for 225 yards and two touchdowns.
North Dakota State def. St. Thomas, 62-7
FARGO, N.D. – Amari Powell ran for a touchdown and finished with 171 yards total offense, but St. Thomas had few answers for FCS No. 1-ranked North Dakota State, which posted a 62-7 victory at the FargoDome. Powell’s touchdown with 8:11 remaining in the game broke up the Bison shutout bid. North Dakota State’s Cade Payton completed 9-of-12 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns.
