Butler, Dayton win share of regular-season crown, Butler to play in Gridiron Classic

Dayton claimed a share of its 10th PFL regular-season title with a victory against Marist. Butler won a share of the title with its last-second victory against Drake and will represent the PFL in the upcoming Gridiron Classic. The Bulldogs will host NEC Champion Central Connecticut in the Dec. 5 contest.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – David Lang's 27-yard field goal with one second remaining vaulted Butler to a 20-17 victory against Drake in PFL action, Saturday, at the Butler Bowl. The win gave Butler a share of its second-ever PFL championship and also the league's spot in the fourth Gridiron Classic. Both teams traded first-half field goals before each scored touchdowns in both the third and fourth quarters before the game-winning field goal capped the game. Butler sophomore quarterback Andrew Huck completed 24-of-35 passes for 234 yards and a touchdown. Drake sophomore quarterback Mike Piatkowski completed 17-of-29 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown.

DAYTON, Ohio – After a tightly-fought first half, Drake scored back-to-back touchdowns to break open the game en route to a 27-16  PFL victory, Saturday, at Welcome Stadium. With the victory, Dayton wins a share of its 10th PFL title. Senior quarterback Steve Valentino continued his two-way play, passing for 275 yards and two touchdowns and running for 72 yards and a third touchdown. Marist senior quarterback Chris Debowski passed for 259 yards and a touchdown as well as running for 31 yards.

VALPARAISO, Ind. – Valparaiso scored the game's first touchdown but Morehead State scored the next 29 to post a 29-6 PFL victory, Saturday, at Brown Field. The Crusaders scored on Nate Goergen's 11-yard pass to Sean McCarty to take the 6-0 lead. Morehead State began its scoring burst with Rainer Durzan's three field goals to take the lead. J.D. Cecil's 23-yard interception return for a touchdown opened the game up and the Eagles tacked on another pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns. Morehead State's defense held Valparaiso to 137 offensive yards. Meanwhile, the Eagles offense rolled up 274 yards of offense, freshman Zach Lewis passing for 164 yards and a touchdown.

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Jacksonville scored 27 unanswered points and closed out its 2009 campaign with a 34-14 PFL victory against Campbell, Saturday, at Barker-Lane Stadium. Jacksonville sophomore quarterback Josh McGregor passed for 222 yards and two touchdowns while junior running back Rudell Small ran for another two touchdowns. Campbell sophomore running back C.J. Oates ran for 125 yards and a touchdown.

Southern Utah def. San Diego, 37-32 | San Diego Recap
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Freshman quarterback Bo Stompro threw for 247 yards and five touchdowns, but San Diego could not complete a comeback and fell, 37-32, to Southern Utah, Saturday, in non-conference action at Torero Stadium. After falling behind 10-0, San Diego scored the next 13 points to take its only lead of the game. Southern Utah scored teh game's next 17 points and never looked back.
