Butler, Drake and Dayton put 2-0 PFL marks on the line in Week 7

All three unbeaten PFL squads take the field to highlight Week 7. Butler puts its unblemished PFL and overall marks at risk when it hosts long-time foe Valparaiso. PFL unbeaten Dayton hosts Davidson at Welcome Stadium while fellow 2-0 squad Drake travels to San Diego. Morehead State travels to Jacksonville while Campbell visits non-conference foe Old Dominion.

Week 7 Previews

Valparaiso at Butler, 1 p.m.

One of five unbeaten teams remaining in the FCS, Butler puts its unblemished mark on the line when it hosts Valparaiso in the annual “Battle for the Hoosier Helmet.” The Bulldogs return to action following an off week and will play their fifth
in-state contest this season. The Crusaders are seeking their first PFL victory after falling to San Diego in Week 6. The series between the two squads dates back to 1927 when both were members of the former Indiana Collegiate Conference.
Who to Watch:
Senior wide receiver Dan Bohrer became the third Butler player to record 2,000 receiving yards with a eight-catch, 79-yard effort against San Diego in Week 5. He has 28 receptions for for 232 yards and four touchdowns this season. Valparaiso quarterback Bobby Wysocki doubled his season's rushing output with a 101-yard performance against San Diego last week, he had 95 yards rushing entering the game. He ranks sixth on the PFL's total offense chart, averaging 162.8 yards of total offense per game.

Davidson at Dayton, 1 p.m.

Dayton looks to improve its 2-0 PFL start when it hosts Davidson. Dayton has recovered from a season-opening home loss with four straight victories, including a win at Campbell in Week 6. Davidson has not won at Dayton in three tries and has not posted a road victory in 2009.
Who to Watch: Davidson return specialist Justin Williams ranks second among PFL runners with 126.4 all-purpose yards per game. He leads the PFL in punt return yardage, averaging 9.7 yards per return while his 20.4 yards per kick return sits just outside the league's top 10. Dayton senior wide receivers Justin Watkins and JMichael Jonard are on the cusp of passing the 1,000-yard receiving mark. Watkins needs 10 yards to reach the milestono while Jonard is 13 yards shy. Watkins ranks fifth among PFL receivers, averaging 69.8 yards per game with three touchdown catches. Jonard is sixth among PFL receivers with 4.6 receptions per game. 

Morehead State at Jacksonville, 1 p.m.

Morehead State seeks its first PFL victory when it travels to Jacksonville which saw its seven-game PFL win streak stopped in Week 6. The Eagles saw fumbles derail a chance for their first victory at Davidson last week and have lost 12 fumbles this season. The Dolphins saw their win streak fall in the final seconds of a loss at Marist. Morehead State has lost the last three meetings in the series.
Who to Watch: Morehead State continues to turn its quarterback carousel, with junior Evan Sawyer and freshman Zach Lewis splitting time in each of the last three games. The Eagles pass offense has struggled in the season's first half, averaging 146.2 yards per game – ninth among PFL members – with eight interceptions against six touchdown passes. Jacksonville sophomore Josh Philpart extended his streak of consecutive games with a catch to 13 as he had five receptions for 82
yards and a touchdown at Marist. He enters Saturday's contest ranked third among PFL receivers with 87.6 yards per game.

Drake at San Diego, 5 p.m.

Series: SAN leads, 9-7
Streak: SAN, four wins

San Diego returns to Torero Stadium for only the second time this season when it hosts Drake in another key PFL matchup. San Diego won its only other home outing against Marist in Week 3 and returns home in the thick of the PFL race. Drake sits among a trio of teams at 2-0 and posted its season’s second shutout against Missouri S&T last weekend. The Bulldogs will need to stop a four-game losing streak against the Toreros to remain unbeaten.
Who to Watch:
Drake sophomore quarterback Mike Piatkowski ranks third among PFL signal callers, averaging 226.6 yards per game. He has helped Drake reach the Red Zone a league-best 26 times and they have scored 22 times, a 84.6 percent conversion rate that ranks third among PFL squads. San Diego freshman quarterback Sam Scudellari has five touchdowns in his first four games behind center and his 128.8 yards per game ranks fifth among FCS freshman quarterback this season.

Campbell at Old Dominion, 6 p.m.

Campbell steps out of conference action to meet Old Dominion and looking to stop a four-game losing streak. The Camels are the second PFL team to meet the Monarchs this season, Jacksonville dropping a 28-27 decision, Sept. 19.
Who to Watch:
Campbell hasn't had any trouble offensively in its second season, ranking third among PFL teams with 348.6 yards per game. Junior quarterback Daniel Polk ranks seventh on the PFL's total offense chart with 148.8 yards per game while sophomore running back CJ Oates is fourth among PFL runners with 58.8 yards per game.
