MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Dayton rebounded from its season-opening loss with a 21-14 road victory against Robert Morris, Saturday, at Joe Walton Stadium. Senior Steve Valentino, an All-PFL selection at wideout last season, made the start at quarterback and completed 14-of-29 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns. After falling behind 7-0, the Flyers scored three consecutive touchdowns to take control of the contest. Dayton's defense held the Colonials to 153 yards total offense as senior defensive back James Vercammen recorded 12 tackles, including three tackles for loss (one sack).

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A touchdown and extra-point conversion with 45 seconds remaining provided the winning margin as Old Dominion downed Jacksonville, 28-27, Saturday a D.B. Milne Field. Jacksonville had an opportunity to win the game with a 52-yard field goal, but it sailed right as time expired. The Dolphins scored the game's first 13 points, but a missed extra-point on its first touchdown would ultimately haunt it before the final gun. Sophomore quarterback Josh McGregor completed 22-of-42 passes for 300 yards and three touchdowns.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Butler breached the 40-point barrier for the third straight game in a 42-21 victory against Hanover, Satuday, at the Butler Bowl. Senior wide receiver Dan Bohrer became the school's career touchdown receptions leader with his two touchdown receptions, Saturday, giving him 18 career TD catches. Sophomore quarterback Andrew Huck – the league's two-time player of the week – had a quieter outing agianst Hanover, completing 13-of-15 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown in just two quarters of play.

DURHAM, N.C. – Freshman kicker Rainer Duzan's 45-yard field goal in the second overtime gave Morehead State a 13-10 victory against North Carolina Central, Saturday, at O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium. The Eagles scored just 4:38 into the contest and held that lead until North Carolina Central leveled the game with 1:06 remaining in the third quarter. Both teams traded fourth-quarter field goals to force overtime. In the first extra period both teams saw their kickers miss field goals. In the second overtime, senior linebacker Wes McDermott intercepted a pass on NCCU's first play to set up MSU's winning possession.

SAN DIEGO, Calif.– Freshman quarterback Sam Scudellari tossed a 26-yard touchdown with 41 seconds remaining to help San Diego overcome upset-minded Marist, 17-10, in Pioneer Football League action, Saturday, at Torero Stadium. Scudellari, who entered the game at the beginning of the second half, completed 5-of-7 passes for 108 yards. Marist, the league's newest member, gave the preseason favorite everything it wanted and took a 10-3 lead into halftime after Tommy Reilly threw a touchdown pass with 5:36 remaining in the half. However, Marist would not score in the second frame.

VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota got a record-tying five rushing touchdowns from senior quarterback Noah Shepard to roll past Drake, 51-21, Saturday, at the DakotaDome. The Coyotes outgained the Bulldogs, 446-233, behind Shepards 276 yards – 201 through the air where he tossed one touchdown and another 66 on the ground where he posted five scores. Drake sophomore quarterback Mike Piatkowski completed 15-of-22 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown.

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson won the PFL's Tar Heel State Tussel by downing Campbell, 24-7, Saturday, at Richardson Stadium. Davidson, which had not scored in its first two games, had to wait another half before its season's first score – a seven-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Michael Blanchard with 11:14 remaining in the third quarter. Campbell struck back with sophomore running back Carl Smith''s touchdown run six minutes later tied the game. That would be Campbell's only score as Davidson posted the game's final 17 points to seal its season's first victory. Davidson junior runningback Kenny Mantuo carried the ball 20 times for 135 yards and a touchdown. Campbell sophomore quarterback Daniel Polk completed 9-of-23 passes for 101 yards.
