ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Pioneer Football League’s announced its 2024 conference slate, Tuesday, featuring 44 games between the league’s 11 members.

The upcoming 2024 season marks the 32nd year for the Pioneer Football League – the nation’s only non-scholarship, football-only NCAA Football Championship Subdivision conference. Each league member plays an eight-game schedule to determine the league champion and recipient of the PFL’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Football Championship.

The 2024 league schedule gets underway during Week 5 (Sat., Sept 28) with four games on the schedule. Reigning and seven-time PFL champion Drake opens its defense when it hosts 12-time champion San Diego during the opening weekend.

The highlight of the 2024 slate is set for Week 11, which boasts a slate of four highly anticipated games:

• Drake travels north to meet St. Thomas in a rematch of last season’s game that proved the pivotal moment in the championship race.
• Butler and Valparaiso square off in the annual Hoosier Helmet battle at Valparaiso’s Brown Field.
• San Diego heads east to face Dayton in a matchup of the league’s two teams with 12 championships.
• Davidson hosts a Morehead State squad that derailed its championship run last season.

About the Pioneer Football League

The Pioneer Football League is the only non-scholarship, football-only NCAA Football Championship Subdivision conference. The PFL is a truly national conference with members on each coast and throughout the nation’s heartland. Butler University, the University of Dayton, Drake University, and Valparaiso University were among the league’s founding members in 1993, with Davidson College, Marist College, Morehead State University, Presbyterian College, the University of San Diego, the University of St. Thomas, and Stetson University joining to form the current 11-team league.
